How Toastmasters Works
Members learn by speaking to groups and working with others in a supportive environment. A typical Toastmasters club consists of 20 or more people who meet once a week for approximately one to two hours. Each meeting provides opportunities to:
1. Conduct Meetings - With a short business session which helps members learn basic meeting procedures.
2. Give Impromptu Speeches - Present one-to-two minute impromptu speeches on assigned topics.
3. Present Prepared Speeches - Based on projects from Toastmasters International Communication and 4. Leadership Program manuals. Projects cover topics on speech organization, voice, language, gestures, and persuasion.
5. Benefit from Constructive Evaluations - Every prepared speaker is assigned an evaluator who points out speech strengths and offers suggestions for improvement.
